In December, the FX show The Shield will be reborn in comic form thanks to IDW Publishing.  The Shield is the most-watched entertainment program in the history of the FX cable station, and is ad-supported cable's number one-rated original drama.  Michael Chiklis won the Emmy for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series in 2002 for his portrayal of Detective Vic Mackey on the show.  95% of The Shield's 3.6 million viewers are eighteen or older. 

IDW has had great success in turning film and TV shows such as Underworld and CSI (see 'IDW Plans Second CSI Title') into comic books, and hopes to continue the streak with The Shield.
