Variety is reporting that Scott Mitchell Rosenberg's Platinum Studios has signed a 'first look' deal with Walt Disney TV animation.  Rosenberg, who first published the Men In Black comic book (written by Lowell Cunningham), told Variety 'We'll go to the comic book community and see what ideas can be brought to Disney under the deal.' Platinum will sift through hundreds of proposals and pass the best on to Disney TV Animation.  Most of Platinum's previous Hollywood experience involved live action series (Jeremiah) rather than animated shows, so it comes as no surprise that Platinum also signed a development deal with Kaaren Lee Brown, who, as an executive with Hanna Barbera, DIC, and Mattel, has overseen the production of hundreds of hours of animated programming.  Brown's experience will undoubtedly come in handy when evaluating the various proposals Platinum will receive.

Properties developed by Platinum for Disney would feed the gaping maw represented by the 24-hour cable networks, the ABC Family Channel and the Disney Channel.  Animated projects on the Platinum development slate include Alan Moore's first series for children, Radar, the Hound Supreme and Ben Dunn's Quagmire, USA.  Rosenberg is hoping that other creators will bring their potential animation projects to Platinum.
