According to both Variety and the Hollywood Reporter, actor Benjamin Bratt has signed on to play police detective Tom Lone, the male lead in the new Catwoman film, which starts shooting in Vancouver in just 11 days.  Bratt's character falls in love with Patience Price (Halle Berry), a veterinary scientist, who has to don feline garb to thwart the nefarious plans of a cosmetics mogul played by Sharon Stone.

In other DC Comics-related movie news, cameraman Wally Pfister (Memento, Insomnia) has signed on to lens the Batman film directed by Christopher Nolan (Memento, Insomnia).  With Catwoman on the verge of shooting, Constantine (Hellblazer) in similar circumstances, and the new Batman film on track, it appears that Warner Brothers and DC Comics are about to re-enter the superhero film derby in a major way.
