Warren Ellis has confirmed in his Badsignal mass e-mail that the WB television network has indeed optioned his DC/Wildstorm comic book series Global Frequency. John Rogers is writing the script for a pilot episode and Ellis is on board as a consultant and producer. If the series is picked up, Ellis will get to write at least one episode. Global Frequency, which chronicles the exploits of an international semi-covert rescue squad dealing with the 'black' projects and mad science associated with the dark side of twentieth century cold war operations, has some of the conspiratorial elements of the X-Files, and could appeal to the same audience that made that series a major long-running hit. According to Ellis, the WB has commissioned a pilot episode, but as he points out in his Badsignal e-mail, 'there are no guarantees that the job will make it to the screen. Even pilots are not always aired.'
