The venerable Lupin III anime series returns to the Adult Swim schedule in January starting on Monday, January 5 at 1:30 am (ET, PT).  In January, all the Adult Swim titles will be broadcast twice per night with the same episode of Lupin scheduled for a repeat at 4:30 am.  Unfortunately, though there are hundreds of Lupin episodes that haven't been broadcast in the US, it appears that the Cartoon Network will be replaying the same 27 episodes it has aired before.  Still, the additional exposure should be good for this stylish series, which has developed a strong following in spite of its retro (1970s) animation style.

Geneon (formerly Pioneer) has released episodes from the Lupin III TV series on DVD here in the States, while both Funimation and Manga Entertainment have put out DVD editions of Lupin III animated features.  Manga's lone Lupin release, Hayao Miyazaki's Castle of Cagliostro, is the finest of all the Lupin III features.  With Lupin III manga available from Tokyopop and Diamond Select importing Lupin figures, Lupin's return to Adult Swim should be a boon to retailers, since unlike the case with so many of the newer anime series, there is plenty of Lupin III tie-in merchandise available.
