This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly is the double-sized 2004 Guide issue, and it gives a double dose of attention to comic-based films due for release this year.  Halle Berry as Catwoman adorns the cover, two table of contents pages, and a two-page spread that leads off the movie section inside, doing as good a job of creating pre-awareness for a movie among its target demographic as has ever been done.  A brief (to leave more room for photos) plot synopsis is provided, emphasizing that the character in this movie will have few connections to earlier movie continuity, Bruce Wayne, or Gotham City.

Although this is not the first look at the new costume (see 'Very Bare, Very Urban, Very Downtown'), the EW coverage positions the movie as the biggest of the year, a good sign for merchandise sales.  The release date remains July 30 (see 'Warners Sets Release Dates').

Spider-Man 2 comes in for considerably less coverage, although still more than most 04 releases.  The illustration for the brief article shows Spider-Man in the arms of his arch-nemesis Dr. Octopus.
