According to the Hollywood Reporter, Mike Judge (Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill) has written a live action science fiction comedy, 3001, which he is currently producing for Twentieth Century Fox. Luke Wilson is set to star in this story of a twenty-first century everyman, who participates in a top-secret hibernation program, only to find himself waking up a thousand years later in 3001. It may sound a lot like the premise of Futurama, but there is one major difference, in Judge's vision of the future our culture is so dumbed-down during the next millennium that today's average Joe is the smartest guy around. Given Mike Judge's extraordinary track record, this is a project that bears watching.
