According to Video Business, the first version of the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King DVD will be released in May, with the extended version expected in September.  These release dates are substantially earlier than those for the DVDs of the first two movies, which were timed to run up to the release of the theatrical releases of the following episodes.  With no LOTR movie coming out this fall, New Line apparently sees to reason to wait.  Also in the works are boxed sets of both the regular versions (May) and the extended versions (Q4).
