Once again Buena Vista Home Entertainment will engage in a little guerilla marketing by releasing its Spider-Man: The '67 Collection on June 29, the day before Sony's Spider-Man 2 debuts.  While the quality of the animation on the 1967 Spider-Man series is not up to modern standards, at least this time (unlike the hastily prepared Spider-Man releases that BVHE piggybacked with the original Spider-Man movie) Buena Vista is providing consumers with a decent package--a six-disk box set including all 52 episodes of the Spider-Man series priced at $59.95.

One week later Warner Home Video will release Batman: The Animated Series-Volume One, a four-disk set that includes 28 episodes and has a suggested retail of $49.95.  Unlike the Spider-Man box, which has no announced extras, the Batman set includes commentaries by Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, and Eric Rodomski as well as a 'Batman: The Legacy Continues' featurette.  Warner Home Video has already released many episodes from Batman: The Animated Series on DVD, but up until now WHV has not given collectors what they want -- all the episodes presented season-by-season in chronological order.
