IDW Publishing and Sideshow Collectibles have announced the first of what they hope will be many high quality collaborative projects.   The two companies are working together in order to create a line of museum quality limited edition statues based on the art of Ashley Wood and his Popbot creation, which is featured in a line of graphic novels from IDW. 

The two companies will display prototypes of the Popbot statues at both the IDW and Sideshow booths at this year's Comic Con International in San Diego.   The initial Popbot release will be limited to approximately 1,000 hand-numbered pieces, each of which will be fabricated and painted by hand and cast in a heavy weight polystone material.  The first Popbot statue will be released in early 2005.
