Paramount Home Video has announced that the first two Transformers Energon DVDs will be released on October 12.  The first DVD in the series, The Battle for Energon includes episodes 1-4, while the second DVD, The Return of Megatron includes episodes 6-9.  The DVDs run 96 minutes and have an SRP of $16.99.  With over 50 TV series coming out on DVD this fall, plus the release of 2004 films and catalog titles, the big box stores are going to have a difficult time carrying everything, which should provide some openings for smaller retailers who can tap into the fan base of specific properties.

With new comic book series from Dreamwave, trade paperback collections of vintage Transformers comics, and a major toy line from Hasbro, Transformers remains a profitable property for many retailers.
