According to Variety, Fox has ended its first-look deal with X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer in the wake of his new deals to direct Logan's Run (see 'Bryan Singer To Remake Logan's Run') and Superman (see 'X-Men Helmer To Direct Superman') for Warner Bros.  Although Singer remains willing to be involved with the third X-Men movie, according to the article, this move by Fox makes it unlikely that the studio will use him for the film.

According to its most recent schedule, released just last week, Marvel is holding to its May, 2006 release date for X-Men 3, although no director has been announced.
