DC Comics has announced that it will publish a new graphic novel, The Quitter, by Harvey Pekar in the fall of 2005.  The Quitter will be the first book by Pekar to be published by DC Comics.   The Quitter is based on Pekar's childhood and early adolescence and employs the same autobiographical slice-of-life techniques that have made the comics he has written so distinctive.  Dean Haspiel (American Splendor, Bizarro Comics, Batman Adventures) will provide the art. 

DC will publish The Quitter under its Vertigo imprint and Karen Berger, the Executive Editor of the Vertigo line is enthusiastic at the prospect, noting, Pekar's '...unique way of looking at the world and his insightful and irreverent writing are a natural fit with Vertigo.'

In addition to The Quitter, Pekar and Haspiel are contributing a story starring Bizarro to DC's upcoming hardcover Bizarro World, which will be solicited in the November Previews and is due out in February.
