Variety is reporting that the SCI FI Channel has authorized the production of a two-hour pilot based on the Event Comics character Painkiller Jane, created by Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti.  The eponymous heroine of the series is a Marine Corps officer whose exposure to a biochemical warfare agent leaves her with the ability to heal almost any wounds inflicted on her body.  On the run from the military brass and doctors who want to exploit her accidental 'gift,' she fights crime covertly in a series of adventures that read like a superhero version of The Fugitive.

John Harrison (Dune, Children of Dune) will produce along with Don Opper and Greg Gold.  Production should get underway by the end of the year and if all goes well the pilot should air sometime next summer.
