Tokyopop has announced the July release of the Sakura Taisen (aka Sakura Wars) manga by Hiroi Ouji. This property began as a popular videogame that has gone through numerous versions and spawned a 25-episode anime TV show, 5 different OVA series and a feature film. Set in the 1920s the property blends action, romance, fantasy, steam-powered mecha and demons as the comely members of the Flower Division defend Tokyo (and Paris) from an onslaught of demons. Since all the various anime versions have been released in the U.S., this is a very well known property and it should find a willing audience among manga readers.
