Toronto-based UDON Entertainment has acquired the rights to create a comic book series based on White Wolf Publishing's Exalted RPG.  Exalted, which debuted in 2001, is an anime-and-manga-inspired storytelling game that includes elements from the sword-and-sorcery, epic fantasy, and wuxia martial arts genres.

UDON, which publishes the Street Fighter comic series and has considerable familiarity with the conventions of anime and manga art, has provided covers and interior art for many of White Wolf's Exalted RPG supplements as well as the covers for the series of Exalted novels and all the card art for the forthcoming Exalted Trading Card Game (currently in the playtesting phase).

White Wolf has been planning comic book and trading card game line extensions for its Exalted property for quite some time (see 'White Wolf Preps Exalted Line Extensions').

The first issue of the Exalted comic book series will ship to retailers in October, but a special preview issue, Exalted #0, will be on sale at the White Wolf and UDON booths at various summer comic and gaming conventions beginning with Origins in Columbus, Ohio (June 30-July 3).  In addition to an exclusive prelude story, Exalted #0 features behind-the-scenes information about the series, as well as sketches and exclusive gaming content provided by White Wolf.  The all-new game material will be a constant feature in the regular issues of Exalted, which will include two fully illustrated comic stories in addition to the exclusive gaming content from White Wolf.  The inclusion of the RPG content should provide the comic book series with a solid audience base drawn from players of the popular White Wolf game.
