In an interview published on MTV.com, Avi Arad, the head of Marvel Studios, discussed a number of Marvel-based movies including the ten films that Marvel will make itself over the next decade with no studio help except for distribution (see 'Marvel to Produce Its Own Films').  Among the films Marvel is preparing to make on its own are projects based on Captain America, Nick Fury, Dr. Strange, Ant Man, Black Panther, and the Silver Surfer.

Captain America is supposed to lead off the slate of Marvel-produced films and Arad thinks that it has the most potential, telling MTV that next to Spider-Man: 'Captain America is the most famous character out there.'  Arad wants to bring the World War II-era Captain America to contemporary America.  He has a writer for the project and knows who he wants to direct it, but he told MTV: 'This script is going to take a little time, because it has to be a masterpiece.  It's Back to the Future kind of stuff.'

Arad wants to make Nick Fury a period film by going back to the classic 1980s Nick Fury, Agent of Shield comics for inspiration.  Arad is also planning a Silver Surfer movie featuring the planet-devouring Galactus and, on the other side of the size spectrum, The Ant Man, which he described as a 'Honey I Shrunk the Superhero' kind of story.  Also in line for a shot at movie stardom under the Marvel Studios banner is Black Panther, which he described as 'a big, big, big deal.'

Arad indicated that not all 10 of the Marvel-made films will necessarily be originals.  Marvel may recover the rights to several of its characters and try to do things better the second time around.  One property that Arad seemed especially interested in getting back was Daredevil in order to make a darker, more intense sequel.

Of course Marvel will still have plenty of input on films based on its characters made by other studios.  Fox, which has produced the three X-Men films, will produce not one, but two spin-offs, a Wolverine film (see 'Jackman to Produce Wolverine Movie') and a Magneto movie, which will feature both Ian McKellen as the mature Magneto and a young actor, who will portray the young Magneto as the film explores the origin of the key X-Men villain.
