DC Direct announced at the San Diego Comic-Con International that it will produce Looney Tunes Golden Collection Action Figure Sets -- authentic interpretations of the iconic Looney Tunes characters as they actually appeared in the classic Warner Bros. cartoons. In April of 2006 DC Direct will release the first two of these action figure sets, each of which includes two figures as well as props, based on two classic shorts directed by Chuck Jones, What's Opera Doc and The Scarlet Pumpernickel. Like the recently announced DVD release of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Vol. 3 (see 'Looney Tunes Golden Collection Vol. 3'), the DC Direct Looney Tunes Golden Collection Action Figure Sets are targeted at adult collectors.
In June of 2006 DC Direct will release sets based on Scrambled Aches (1957, directed by Chuck Jones) featuring Wile. E. Coyote and the Roadrunner and Baseball Bugs (1946 directed by Friz Freleng) featuring Bugs and a Gashouse Gorilla. The next two series of Looney Tunes Golden Collection Action Figure Sets are based on Water, Water Every Hare (1952, directed by Chuck Jones) and Big House Bunny (1950, directed by Friz Freleng) and are slated for October, which will also see the release of DC Direct's Looney Tunes Gift Set #1 featuring Chuck Jones' immortal Duck Dodgers in the 24th and One-Half Century.
