Dark Horse Comics announced numerous new titles at San Diego Comic-Con International last week, including two Scarface novels based on the characters in the film, with the first due this December. The novels will start in the years before Tony Montana comes to the U.S., and will be published under the DH Press imprint.
DH Press will also publish Roald (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) Dahl's 1943 classic The Gremlins, with illustrations by Walt Disney Studios, in February, 2006. Starting the same month will be a three-issue The Gremlins comic book series, with new material based on Dahl's characters.
Dracula: Book One Asylum, scheduled for December of 2005, will be part of Dark Horse's series of novels based on the Universal Monsters characters.
David Lloyd, best known for his work on V for Vendetta, will be writing and drawing The Kickback, a crime noir story to be published as a 96-page hardcover, coming in 2006.
Penny Arcade, a collection of the online gamers' comic, is scheduled for December this year.
Also due that month is Reiko the Zombie Shop, billed by Dark Horse as part Buffy, part Sixth Sense and part Ringu.
Recess Pieces, written and drawn by Bob Fingerman, will be a 6' x 8' 80-page hardcover, coming in July of 2006, about a world where only kids can stop zombies from taking over.
These titles join those already announced at San Diego and covered by ICv2 last week (see 'Dark Horse Announces New Manga Releases').
