Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, LLC and MGM have announced a new license agreement for action figures based on the popular and long-lived Sci Fi Channel series, Stargate SG-1 and its popular spin-off, Stargate Atlantis.

Sculptors from the Jean St. Jean Studios and Plan B will provide the highly detailed sculpts for DST's Stargate Action Figures, which will be closely based on the images of the series' stars including (among others) Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, and Christopher Judge. 

While Diamond Select Toys has not yet published its timetable for the release of the Stargate Action Figures, Comic Images has acquired the license for a Stargate Collectible Card Game (see 'Comic Images Has Stargate CCG'), which it plans to debut at Gen-Con Indy in 2006.  Meanwhile Stargate SG-1 (now in its tenth season) and Stargate: Atlantis (in its second) have become mainstays of the Sci Fi Channel's lineup of original science fiction programming.
