Marvel has extended Activision's license to produce Spider-Man and X-Men videogames for PC, console, and handheld platforms for eight more years beyond the previously scheduled end of the deal in 2009, to 2017.  Activision has sold over 25 million Spider-Man and X-Men videogames to date.

Videogames form a third import vector, along with TV and movies, for exposing young consumers to the Marvel characters -- this agreement ensures that Marvel's top two franchises will continue to have that exposure for another dozen years.
