Geneon has announced the June 13th release of the first DVD in the 6-volume Elemental Gelade anime series, which is based on the manga by Mayumi Azuma.  Tokyopop will publish the English edition of the first volume in Elemental Gelade manga series on July 11th.  To avoid confusion and promote cross-marketing, both Geneon and Tokyopop will utilize the same logo and transliteration of the title of the series, which was often rendered previously as 'Erementar Gerad.'

The 26-episode Elemental Gelade anime, which debuted in Japan in 2005, is an interesting mixture of adventure, fantasy and 'magical girl' elements.  The hero of this saga is a bumbling rookie from the Red Lynx sky pirate squadron who accidentally stumbles onto the treasure of a lifetime, a shy and defenseless girl (Ren) who has powers that many are willing to kill to obtain.

The regular edition of Elemental Gelade Vol. 1:  React (MSRP $29.99) includes five full episodes (125 minutes) and a limited edition chrome metallic pencil board.  The Box Set Edition ($39.99) includes a display box with room for all six episodes, a replica of Ren's distinct hair ribbon, and the limited edition chrome metallic pencil board.

XEBEC (Fafner, Love Hina) is the animation studio that produced Elemental Gelade, and Hiromasa Ogura (FLCL, Last Exile, Samurai 7) is the series' art director, which guarantees that this will be one fine-looking anime production.
