Millenium Films is teaming up with Emmett/Furla Films to bring the Red Sonja comic book series to the big screen.  The sword-wielding redhead (only loosely based on a gun-toting Robert E. Howard character) made her first comic book appearance in 1973 in Marvel's Conan the Barbarian #23 written by Roy Thomas. 

The sexy swordswoman made her screen debut in the 1985 Red Sonja film directed by Richard Fleisher starring the hapless Brigitte Nielson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Dynamite Entertainment revived the character in a new comic book series in 2005 and Dynamite's Nick Barrucci is one of nine executive producers on the new film, which will have a budget of more than $25 million.
