Scholastic will publish Breaking Up, a new original graphic novel by Aimee Friedman and Christine Norrie, in January 2007 under its Graphix imprint.  The book will ship as a 192 page, b/w trade paperback at $11.99.  The content will be rated 'teen.'

Friedman is the New York Times bestselling author of South Beach, French Kiss, and Hollywood Hills.

Norrie has had comic work published by SLG, DC, Oni (including her art on Hopeless Savages), and Image, as well an original graphic novel, Cheat, published by Oni.  She's accumulated two Eisner and one Russ Manning nomination(s).

Breaking Up will follow a new high school freshman as she tries to navigate the social scene between her friends and the unpopular boy she's making friends with.

A Scholastic spokesperson told ICv2 that the property is 'not a series right now,' and 'there are no plans for it to be a series.'
