Boom! Studios has announced the launch of a comic series based on Games Workshop's science fiction tabletop war game, Warhammer 40,000.  The Warhammer 40K comic will debut at Comic-Con International in San Diego this weekend with a special preview issue that will be sold at the Boom! Studios booth.  The first issue of the comic series is set for release in October.

The Warhammer 40K universe with its genetically engineered, battle hardened Space Marines facing off against the alien hordes of Orks, Tyrannids, Tau and Eldar, etc. is one of the fiercest and most action-packed gaming arenas ever created and it has spawned a popular CCG, novels, art books, and a new RPG (see 'Warhammer 40K RPG'), so it appears to be a natural as a comic book setting
