John Munn of Comic Book, Ink in Tacoma, WA, read about John Riley's idea to launch an industry-wide philanthropic project (see 'Sharpening the Sword--A Gathering of Heroes') and wants to help:

A decade ago it seemed to be a very rare thing to see a commitment to community from your local comic book shop.  But I feel very lucky to say that there is a growing number of retailers that have put a strong focus into the city that they live in and, in a larger sense, the needs of the community that support them.

To say that John Riley's recent column,Sharpening the Sword--A Gathering of Heroes, was anything short of inspiring would be an understatement.  I am the proud father of a five year old...and Mr. Riley's story hit home in more ways that I can say.

I firmly agree, support and want to help this fantastic idea in any way that we can.  We have tried to help our community, in a number of ways, since we first opened our doors in October of 2002.  This far-reaching idea is a way to help our children on a scale as massive as any possible superhero 'War' or 'Crisis' imaginable...and we want to be right there by John's side.
