The Anime News Service is reporting that a second Ikkitousen anime series, Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny, is in production in Japan.  The series will debut on satellite in February and will be broadcast over the air (in Japan) starting in the spring of 2007.  Based on the 21-volume Ikkitousen manga by Yuji Shiozaki (published in the U.S. as Battle Vixens by Tokyopop), the first Ikkitousen anime series was a 13-episode affair distributed in the U.S. by Geneon.

With a full complement of buxom brawling school girls the Ikkitousen anime proved to be quite popular with the American anime audience by providing plenty of fan service to spice up its fast-paced martial arts comedy/adventure.  The series has also spawned a plethora of merchandise including a number of provocative statues (see 'Yamato's Ikkitousen Battle Sonsaku').

Manga creator Yuji Shiozaki has provided the original story for the new Ikkitousen anime series, which Koihi Ohata is directing with Rin Shin, providing both character designs and animation direction.
