Mayfair Games has announced that the historically-oriented card game, Age of Discovery (MSRP $30), will ship to retailers in May.  Co-produced by Mayfair and Phalanx and designed by Alfred Viktor Schultz for 2-4 players aged 10 and up, The Age of Discovery offers participants the opportunity to invest in the exploratory voyages of key historical figures such as Columbus and Magellan, but players will need money to finance these expeditions and to do that they must fulfill trade contracts.

The game, which takes about 45 minutes to play, includes 50 ship cards, 12 expedition cards, 24 trade contract cards, 12 special mission cards, 12 action cards, 88 wooden tokens, one victory point chart, 60 coins, and one rules booklet.

This card game should not be confused with the board game The Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery designed by Glenn Drover and based on the hit PC game, The Age of Empires III.
