Topps reported its Q4 and fiscal year-end results on Tuesday, with generally good news in its entertainment segment despite a tough year for game subsidiary WizKids.  As has been the case throughout the year, the improved results in entertainment were primarily due to better profits from sports cards, particularly baseball (see 'Topps Reports Improved Q3,' for example).

WizKids sales were down from the previous year, but the report noted that the rate of decline was lower than in previous quarters.

The company reported earnings of $2.3 million for the quarter, slightly ahead of analysts' projections.

For the fiscal year, Topps made $11 million, vs. $1.2 million in the previous year.

The company appears to be moving toward closing on its deal to be sold to Michael Eisner's Tornante Company (see 'Topps Rejects Higher Bid').
