The Vancouver-based Griddly Games is set to release its new party board game Wise Alec, a multi-generational family game of trivia, tongue twisters, and social strategy that is perfect for family gatherings, holiday parties, and group play.  Wise Alec (MSRP $24.99) is designed for 2-6 players, ages 8 and up -- it mixes challenging brainteasers, etiquette, and personal behaviors allowing players of various ages and abilities to play together.  Wise Alec offers a choice of two levels of difficulty on every turn as players attempt to earn points as they move around the board answering questions in three different categories (science, history, and spelling).  Players have a choice of an easy or more difficult question on every turn.

Positive health and lifestyle habits also play a role in the multi-age game play structure.  Wise Alec includes some riddles and mental challenges, but it also allows advancements for fitness abilities (doing 10 push-ups earns extra points) as well as point deductions for poor etiquette (lose two points for burping in public). Reisa Schwartzman, the president and founder of Griddly Games, explains the beneficial effects of Wise Alec: "When families play the game on a regular basis, everyone will think twice about holding a door for someone or eating a piece of fruit instead of a candy bar -- Wise Alec provides fun, interesting knowledge, and fun facts, while also promoting some healthy habits, choices, and activities that can continue in-between round of the game.
