Decipher, Inc. announced the formation of the Decipher Game Management Authority (DGMA), an independent tournament management company.  The DGMA will be responsible for developing and managing the entire tournament structure for all Decipher trading card games.  The organization will maintain tournament rules, create a code of conduct, and administer a new four-level judges program to raise the standard of event judging.

The first tournaments created by DGMA will consist of three events for the popular Lord of the Rings CCG (see 'LOTR Starter Decks Sell Out') that will all be held this summer.  The events will all offer a guaranteed $5,000 prize purse at each event, along with special tournament rings, to the winners. The first of these events will be held at Origins, July 3-7 in Columbus, Ohio, while the second will take place at Comicon, August 1-4 in San Diego, California.  The third tournament will take place overseas at the Spiel Game Fair, October 17-20 in Essen, Germany.  In 2003 DGMA plans to add qualifying events to all these events, but this year anyone can register and play in these three tournaments.  The $5000 prize will be split among the top eight finishers, while the top four champions will each receive a tournament ring.
