The Christian Children’s Fund has released a statement calling its rejection of the donation from the charity auction that honored Dungeons & Dragons creator Gary Gygax at Gen Con (see “Charity Turned Down D&D Money”) a “misunderstanding.” CCF Vice President of International Communications and Fundraising told Escapist Magazine that the donation was refused because the organization’s “…policies have specific criteria for endorsements.”

Dahl also said that the organization had no beef with D&D.  “This decision was in no way intended to be a reflection on Mr. Gygax, gaming enthusiasts, or the game Dungeons and Dragons,” she said.  “We have the utmost respect for the gaming community.”

Left unexplained was why Live Auctions, which ran the charity auction at Gen Con, believed that the rejection was due to the fact that the money was associated with D&D.
