Video-game developer Petroglyph will release both physical and electronic versions of Panzer General: Allied Assault, later this year. The games are based on the 1988 PC game of tactical and operational combat in World War II and utilize tiles that allow for a wide variety of customizable battlegrounds, as well as the ability to re-create some of the most notable conflicts of the war.

The board game version of Panzer General: Allied Assault will be on shelves in November, while the electronic version for the Xbox Live Arcade (developed by Petroglyph and published by Ubisoft) will be available for purchase for $8 starting in October. Both games use the same mechanics and were designed by Petroglpyh CEO Chuck Krogel, maker of the original PC game.
