Fantasy Flight Games has released details on Cosmic Alliance, its upcoming expansion for Cosmic Encounter, due to release in March 2012.

Cosmic Alliance will feature 20 alien races new to the game, such as the Cyborg, the Schizoid and the Gorgon.  The game also provides rules and components to add another player to the game, so up to eight players can play if all three expansions are used.  And last, as the name infers, the game offers a new team rules variant so players can ally themselves with others and quicken their control of the galaxy and the game.

Called the “Team Cosmic” variant, players attempt to conquer the galaxy cooperatively in teams of two.  Sitting opposite each other, they can help each other in their objectives but neither player can claim victory until both can.

Cosmic Alliance will retail for $24.95.
