The annual updated Core Set for the perennial best-seller Magic: The Gathering is scheduled to release in July.  The Magic 2013 Core Set will be the standard format set heading into the game’s twentieth year.  The theme for this year’s Core Set will be “Face a Greater Challenge.”

This will be a 249-card set. The street release date is scheduled for July 13th, with pre-release events scheduled for July 7 and 8.  A Magic game day will be held during the first weekend in August.

Magic 2013 Core Set will be available in Boosters with a suggested retail price of $3.99, Intro Packs at $12.99, and Fat Packs for $39.99. Event Decks will release on August 10, with a suggested retail price of $24.99.

The initial release of the Magic 2013 Core Set will not knock any existing sets out of the standard format.  The release of the next major expansion in October will remove Magic 2012 and Scars of Mirrodin from standard format play.
