Bushiroad will release a new Kill la Kill expansion for its Weiss Schwarz TCG. The expansion will include a Trial Deck and Booster packs. The Trial Deck will release on August 22, and the Booster packs on September 26.
This set is based on the Kill la Kill anime series produced by Trigger, the team that previously worked on Gurren Lagann. The anime has been licensed by Aniplex of America in the US, who started streaming the series last fall, and plans a home video release at a later date.
The story follows high school student Ryuko Matoi, who infiltrates Honnouji Academy looking for her father’s killer. The school is run by Satsuki Kiryuin and her student council cronies, who all wear special uniforms that grant them superhuman powers. Ryuko has her own sentient sailor suit uniform, and a half scissor-shaped long sword, to help her fight Satsuki, and later her fashion-designer mother.
The 50-card Trial Deck will contain a chance inclusion of an exclusive SP Gold foil/Hot Stamp card, which is randomly included in one deck per display. It may be a RRR holo card (2 designs) or a SP Gold Foil card signed by Japanese voice actress Ami Koshimizu (Ryuko Matoi). Each deck comes with a rule sheet, deck manual, playbook and playmat. The decks are packed six to a display, with eight displays per carton. The English Edition does not include gold/silver campaign coupons.
The Booster will include 100 cards, as well as 20 parallel cards. Gold Foil/Hot Stamp chase cards featuring autographs from Japanese voice actresses will be randomly inserted into packs. A new foil pattern will be introduced for R and RR rarity cards with this set. Each booster includes eight cards, with 20 boosters per display. One PR card out of 4 types will be included in each display, and four rubber playmats are included in each carton. The English Edition does not include gold/silver campaign coupons. With this set, English and Japanese cards may be played together in tournament formats (except in Japan).
This Weiss Schwarz release will follow the Angel Beats! Re: Edit expansion releasing in July (see "'Weiss Schwarz: Angel Beats! Re: Edit'").
