Marcus King of Games & Comics: A Troll and Toad Store in London, Kentucky read the recent article about Games Workshop's declining sales (see "Games Workshop Sales, Profits Decline") and shares a couple of ideas he has for the company.
Ya know, I got an idea. This is crazy, I know, but how about Games Workshop producing, selling, and restocking games people want to buy? Space Hulk is a nice pop, but keep it in stock. Republish Gene Stealers and other supplements to it. Reprint Mordheim, Epic 40K, Necromunda, Battlefleet Gothic, and a few other old favorites.
GAMES WORKSHOP: YOU NEED INTRODUCTORY GAMES. Not everyone can walk into a game store and buy the $125 core game, a $90 rule book set, a $50 codex and a $300 army. And, those who can, are usually smart enough to buy them used on eBay for 60% off.
Retailers all open their stores with the idea of what they will carry. Then customers dictate what they carry. You are trying to dictate what people will play, when customers are clamoring for the games they WANT to play. It's really clear that you have no idea how to capitalize on your brands, IP's and position.
