Next week Funimation launches what could well be its best-selling release of the year, Dragonball Z Movie 8: Broly -- The Legendary Super Saiyan.  Considered by many the best of all the DBZ features, Broly is action-packed even by the frenetic standards of the fight-dominated Dragon Ball Z series.  The Uncut Broly DVD, which has a suggested retail price of $24.95, contains a number of special features including a 20-minute feature on 'The Making of Legacy of Goku II' videogame for the Game Boy Advanced as well as three special Broly cards for Score's popular Dragonball Z Collectible Card Game.  The cards, which are only available with the DVD edition include: Broly, the Calm; Broly, Super Saiyan; and Broly, Empowered.

Funimation is backing the release of Broly with its most extensive television advertising campaign ever with Broly commercials running on the Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, MTV, MTV2, Comedy Central, ESPN2, and Fox Sports from now until September.  While Broly faces stiff competition from Spirited Away (see 'Spirited Away Keeps On Trucking') and the Animatrix (see 'The Animatrix Could Be The Year's Best-Selling Anime Title'), it still has a chance to be the top U.S. anime release of 2003.
