According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Two Towers Special Extended Edition DVD sold 750,000 to 1 million its first day on Tuesday.  The first two releases of the 3-DVD strategy (see 'Two Towers DVDs Announced'), plus the VHS version, set a first day record when they were released earlier this year ('see Two Towers Tops 03 First Day Sales').  This augurs well for the Return of the King and the associated merchandise for the property.
