Wizards of the Coast showed off its new Star Wars Miniatures and ran demos at the recently concluded Gencon game show in Indianapolis.  The inaugural Star Wars Miniatures release, Rebel Storm, will be released on September 3rd.  According to a WotC spokesperson at the show, orders are coming in 'at expectations, consistent with orders for the Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures.' 

 

Rebel Storm has been ordered by the hobby channel, and by a number of specialty retail chains, including Borders, Waldens, Hastings, Books a Million, Gamestop, and the Musicland Group.  No mass merchants are stocking the game for its initial release. 

 

Rebel Storm features characters from the classic Star Wars property, as well as a few characters from the expanded (non-movie) universe, including Mara Jade.

 

The first expansion, Clone Strike, will ship December 3rd, and will feature characters from Episodes I and II, as well as one teaser character from Episode III, due out in May, 2005.
