Mayfair Games has announced the June release of Bison: Thunder on the Prairie, a new strategy board game by Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling with artwork by Franz Vohwinkel.  Co-produced with Phalanx Games in Germany (see 'Mayfair to Represent Phalanx Games'), Bison transports players to the America's Great Plains prior to the arrival of white settlers as bands of hunters compete to claim the most productive hunting grounds.  The game combines resource management with the classic strategic challenges of an area control game to create a competitive game without resorting to the kind of conflict at the core of military games.

The elaborate board game, which has a suggested retail price of $30, includes 21 land tiles, 32 hunters, 12 scoring cubes, 24 Teepees, 24 canoes, 4 player boards, 16 action markers, 1 Totem Pole and a full-color rulebook.

Bison: Thunder on the Prairie is a game for 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up who struggle for control of valuable resources in family-friendly environment of peaceful competition.  Playing time is about 90 minutes.
