Black Industries, the publishing arm of Games Workshop, has decided to delay the launch of the Warhammer 40,0000: Dark Heresy RPG until the fall of 2007.

Black Industries head Mark Gascoigne explained.  'This will be our biggest RPG release of 2007, and we want to make sure it is absolutely the best game out there,' he said. 'We are taking our time to ensure this game plays smoothly, looks sensational, and oozes with the grim darkness of the far future. Some fans have waited twenty years for this game. We are confident they'll understand why we're going the extra mile to make this worth their wait.'

The coordinated release of the Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy Rulebook (MSRP $49.99 see 'Warhammer 40K RPG' for an overview) and its ancillary products was originally scheduled for March (see 'Coordinated Launch for Warhammer 40K RPG').  Now Black Industries plans to have a limited number of Warhammer 40K RPG volumes available at GenCon Indy in August of 2007 via its American subsidiary Sabertooth Games.  Fans can expect extensive demoing of the new RPG at GenCon to give American fans a taste of what is in store for them in the fall.
