This month’s chart includes 17 Graphix titles, and three others: The new FGTEEV book, the new Adventures in Middle School book by Terri Libenson, and Jerry Craft’s New Kid. The same pattern occurred a year ago, when the chart had 17 Graphix titles, the new FGTEEV and Adventures in Middle School books, and New Kid. What’s more, this year, as last, the Graphix titles include two volumes of Wings of Fire and the latest Baby-Sitters Club book.
This is largely a function of release dates: The FGTEEV and Libenson books come out in late spring and tend to sell well for a couple of months. Same with the Baby-Sitters Club. However, something is different in June 2022: Once again, a Dog Man book has not made the chart. In this case, the absent tome is Dog Man and Cat Kid. Dav Pilkey still has a dozen titles on the chart, so Dog Man isn’t going anywhere, but we’re now at the point where there are so many titles that it’s easy for one to get bumped out of the top 20, especially when a couple of popular books sell well enough to stick around for a while.
