Bandai Entertainment has announced that it will begin releasing the thirteen animated episodes of Kikaider on DVD in August.  The first disk will contain four episodes in both English and in Japanese with English subtitles, along with typical DVD bonus materials such as trailers, a production art gallery, and interviews.  The title character is a humanoid robot created to protect his creator's children from the evil Dr. Gill and his army of androids.  The animated Kikaider series was originally released in Japan in 2000.  It's based on a popular live action series created by Shotaro Ishinomori, the creator of Power Rangers, whose death preceded this animated version of his creation.

Bandai has also announced that it will be releasing a series of collector figures based on the Kikaida series (the live action version) this year.  The toy release will be under the newly created Bandai StudioWorks brand, which will be releasing a variety of highly detailed collector figures designed by famous Japanese artists based on classic Japanese live action and anime properties.
