MGM will release the two feature-length films, Thunderbirds Are Go and Thunderbird 6, on DVD this July, timed to coincide with the fortieth anniversary of the TV show (1964-1966) and the theatrical release of the live-action Thunderbirds film starring Ben Kingsley and Bill Paxton.

The two films will be available together in 'special packaging' as the International Rescue Edition Gift Set or as individual discs (priced at $14.95 MSRP each), both including all the bonus features.

The Thunderbirds Are Go DVD includes special features such as a 'making of' documentary, a featurette on the intricacies of filming the dolls and ships, audio commentary by director David Lane and producer Sylvia Anderson, hidden Easter eggs and the original theatrical trailer.

The Thunderbird 6 DVD includes extras such as an inside look at the creation of the Lady Penelope character, an inside look at the filming of the bi-plane stunt, audio commentary by Lane and Anderson, hidden features and the original theatrical trailer.

The coming year looks to be big for Thunderbirds licensed product sales thanks to the live-action movie in theaters (see 'Thunderbirds Headed for the Big Screen') and a new TV show in production (see 'New Thunderbirds TV Series in the Works').  There are more than a few upcoming releases that will benefit from all the media exposure, such as the DVDs, trading cards from Cards, Inc. (see 'Thunderbirds Cards Get Key Autographs') and Bandai's toys (see 'Bandai's Thunderbirds Vehicles & Playset').
