Geneon Entertainment has announced the May 15th release of the first volume in the 24-episode vampire/comedy series Karin. Karin Vol. 1 Infusion (MSRP $29.98) includes the first four episodes of the series about a 'good' vampire, who actually produces blood and infuses it into unfortunate people whose spirits are raised by the transfusion. Yuna Kagesaki created this anomalous 'positive' vampire for the manga Karin, which is on-going and has reached nine volumes. Tokyopop publishes the Karin manga in the
Although the opening credits of the Karin anime series display the sort of fan service elements typical of shonen anime and manga, the actual Karin anime, which was produced by J.C. Staff and broadcast in Japan from November of 2005 to May of 2006, remains true to the basic storyline of the manga.
In addition to publishing the Karin/Chibi Vampire manga, Tokyopop is also adapting a series of eight Karin/Chibi Vampire novels written by Tohru Kai.
