Japanese anime producers are facing a general trend toward lower DVD sales in their home market, leading to mixed profit projections according to Variety.  This follows an over-all decline in anime sales in Japan last year (see 'Japanese Anime, Manga Markets Decline').

Toei's projected drop in profits was the biggest, with a 28% decline forecast.

GDH (Gonzo) is expecting better results due to cost-cutting to more than offset its DVD sales decline.

TMS (Detective Conan) is also expecting profit increases, due to better results in its arcades, which are making up for flat DVD sales.
