Director Guillermo del Toro has been signed to make a film based on British SF TV series The Champions. The series was an ITC Production (The Saint, Danger Man) which ran 30 episodes in the late 60s.
The Champions told the story of a team of secret agents who were rescued by a secret, advanced civilization after their plane crashed in the Himalayas. The team also received superpowers, which they used to battle international villains.
Del Toro is currently working on Hellboy 2 (see ''Hellboy 2' Casting'). His Pan's Labyrinth was nominated for an Academy Award last year.
