The Disney theatrical release of Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away has been set for September 20 on a number of screens to be determined, according to Ain't It Cool News. The hope, of course, is that the release will be wide enough to do justice to the anime that set box office records in Japan (see 'Disney Nabs Miyazaki's Spirited Away'). According to the report, there will be theatrical releases in both subbed and dubbed versions, which should please the otaku. The video pipeline will also be open--six Studio Ghibli products will be released on video over the next two years, with both language tracks included. The potential exists, if Disney's theatrical and video distribution resources are well deployed, for a major expansion of anime awareness as a result of this program.
