MTV caught up with Kirsten Dunst, the movies’ Mary Jane Watson, and asked her if she would be reprising her role in Spider-Man 4. “I’m in,” replied Dunst, who then refused to make her comments official. Dunst has maintained that she wouldn’t do another Spidey film unless Tobey Maguire was back as the webcrawler and Sam Raimi was in the director’s chair. Now that those two requirements have been satisfied (see “Maguire, Raimi on Spider-Man 4”), the only obstacles preventing Kirsten’s return to the franchise would appear to be financial (reports indicate that both Maguire and Raimi got substantial raises).
